Beyond Veritas explores the human condition; it is a self-critical reflection and examination of society and its impact on the individual as a dynamic force, as it manipulates, moulds and enslaves us.This is achieved using colours, line, texture and text. The pure colours chosen, the deliberate lines, the text and brush strokes create depth, fluidity and emotion.

I address contemporary issues of dislocation, fragmentation, falseness, truth and deception which have become the norm and so we have become desensitised.

My art practice is an ongoing process stemming back from my earliest childhood recollections: the notion of connection and separation, similarity and differences, image and self.  Colours are important in achieving the result that I seek. Text is used to give depth and fluidity whilst giving other Meta interpretations.

My paintings evoke a dream like condition revealing itself through the gestural marks which are deliberate and unintentional as part of my subconscious. This can be seen in the red sky landscape, the eroding city in the turbulent flood and the city scapes with the horse silhouette. The horse is a recurring motif and central in my work.

I paint to evoke the viewers’ hidden feelings about their personal condition which we share and with which we have certain empathy. Once my work is finished I am no longer the author, it is up to the viewer to take over and deconstruct the work.

The paintings are in response to the pain, deceit, nostalgia, longing, entrapment and rebellion to which we have been subjected. They are in effect alternative constructions of a constructed reality built up by the media being slowly unravelled to reveal the true reality.
